FOLLOWING your article on April 14 (Anger in Kinson over loss of park toilets) I would like to make the community within Kinson aware that the public conveniences in Millhams Road are now fully open.
It is regrettable that the toilets had to be closed but following fire damage the building was unfit for the public to use.
The council accepts that the situation was all the more unfortunate for local people as it occurred at a time when the nearby Pelhams toilets were also closed.
These conveniences, which have been subject to constant vandalism, will remain closed for the foreseeable future because of the extent of refurbishment needed.
Pelhams Park toilets also form part of the overall review of public conveniences currently being undertaken.
The extent of damage and vandalism that goes on in our public conveniences is a constant problem.
Over the Easter weekend alone three more toilets suffered fire damage. Bournemouth remains committed to providing cost- effective local services but repeated acts of vandalism form one of the reasons why a more sustainable solution must be found.
